Welcome to the new edition of the ShipInsight Safety Guide. As usual we look at the latest changes in the regulations that have been made since the last edition. While some of the agenda items are now reaching a conclusion, others are taking their place.
As 2020 approaches and the new sulphur cap on fuels outside of ECAs looms, the IMO has taken on board the safety concerns that the industry has and will be looking at the implications. Furthermore, having more or less resolved the long standing problem of mis declared weights of shipping containers, it would seem that the equally long-standing problem of fire in containers is still very much a cause for concern. These and other issues are covered in this new edition.
