The guide looks at the technology in use today, latest developments in engine and propulsion systems and also at the changing regulatory landscape. Diesel engines are still the choice of most operators and look to be so for some time to come but dual-fuel variants are increasing in number and sophistication. On the regulatory front, with more ECAs on the cards operators and engine makers have to deal with improving NOx reduction techniques. The most pressing decision though is the choice of options for meeting the 2020 SOx cap which unfortunately engine makers can do little about.
