South Korean ballast treatment manufacturer has been granted USCG type-approval for its ECS-HYCHLOR BWMS. The approval is the 32nd issued by the USCG overall and means that Techcross now has two systems approved by the USCG.

The treatment principle of the Techcross ECS-HYCHLOR BWMS consists of filtration and electrolysis during uptake and neutralization at discharge. The approval covers models with maximum treatment rated capacities between 300 m3/h and 8,000 m3/h.

The approval allows the system to be installed on US-flagged vessels in both standard and EX- variants. Systems with the Filtersafe filter have a hold time of >3 hours and those with the Techcross filter a longer time of >48 hours. There are no salinity operational limitations and the system can be used with water temperatures between 0 and 55°C.
