Nor-Shipping sets sights on delivering ocean business opportunities in 2019
Nor-Shipping has announced that it will seek to add value for its traditional maritime audience by exploring new ocean business opportunities next year. Taking place across a series of venues in Lillestrøm and Oslo between 04 - 07 June, Nor-Shipping 2019 will focus on the theme of ‘ocean solutions’. This will see it showcase, as ever, the world’s leading maritime businesses, while also working to unlock the potential for the industry in the anticipated boom in developing ocean-based activities. “We exist to showcase, support and help enable the shipping industry,” comments Nor-Shipping Director Per Martin Tanggaard. “The OECD has highlighted that economic value creation from ocean activities will have doubled by 2030, and we see that as a major business opportunity for the 1,000 exhibitors, and around 35,000 delegates, that we serve. “Maritime businesses have the established expertise, infrastructure and assets to help unlock the potential of the ocean space – whether that be in terms of collaborating with new partners, or using existing maritime technology for developing industry segments, such as green energy, food production or deep sea mining. Maritime is always our number one focus and we believe we can serve it best by opening up the horizon a little to new possibilities. There are exciting times ahead.” Nor-Shipping 2019 will host six exhibition halls, over 21,000m2, dedicated to tailored industry themes. Hall A will retain its focus from 2017, when Nor-Shipping launched the concept of Disruptive Sustainability to the industry – bringing together shipping industry trailblazers with leading companies and innovators from the wider business world. Networking, knowledge and social events will light up venues beside the fjord in city centre Oslo, while large scale gatherings, such as the DNV GL BBQ and Closing Party, will bring key industry players from across the globe together to mix, talk business and just enjoy the Nor-Shipping atmosphere. “Shipping is evolving and so are we, with the further development of the Disruptive Sustainability concept and the new Ocean Solutions opportunities,” Tanggaard stresses. “However, we also know what our core audience wants from us and are committed to delivering the optimal platform for them to showcase and strengthen their maritime businesses. “Nor-Shipping has earned the title of the world’s leading maritime event week for good reason, and our 2019 outing will consolidate that position by delivering an added value exhibition and programme of activities for this industry. We can’t wait to welcome everyone back to Norway.” In support of its drive to realise fresh opportunities for maritime, Nor-Shipping is organizing its first activity outside its home country with a new conference in Copenhagen from 2-3 May 2018. Christened Opening Oceans Conference (OOC) the event, timed to coincide with Danish Maritime Days, aims to illustrate and discuss key ocean opportunities, equip delegates with the tools to tackle them, and facilitate fresh collaborations. Central conference themes will include energy production and access to minerals, changing logistic demands, food production, and capturing, collating and extracting value from the ever-increasing flow of ocean-related data. OOC is supported by both Norwegian Shipowners’ Association and Danish Shipping.
