The USCH has issued the 31st Ballast Water Management System Type Approval Certificate to Japan-based Miura for its HK-(E)R system.
The treatment principle of the Miura HK-(E)R consists of filtration and UV treatment during uptake and UV treatment during discharge. This approval covers models with maximum intake treatment rated capacities between 200 m3/h and 900 m3/h.
The operational limits imposed by the type-approval are a water temperature below 50°C, and a hold time in marine water (above 20PSU) of 24 hours an in Brackish and Fresh water of 72 hours. The UV dose is set at 225 mJ/cm2.
Approval does not cover use on US-flagged vessels.
Miura has also applied for a new type-approval for its HK-(E) C system that was previously granted type-approval last October.
