MAIB opens investigation into Key Bora grounding

An official investigation into the grounding and flooding of the Gibraltar registered chemical/products tanker Key Bora in Kyleakin, Scotland on 28 March this year has been initiated by the UK MAIB.

The incident occurred when the 2006-built, 2,627gt vessel was approaching the berth and resulted in it being holed in ballast tanks four and five. The vessel was allowed to sail and was repaired in Greenock.


Key Bora is owned by Key Shipping care of manager Sea Tank Chartering of Bergen, Norway. ISM Manager is V Ships UK Ltd of Glasgow, UK.
