Singapore-based scrubber manufacturer Feen Marine has reported a good year for 2020 with increased scrubber sales.
Adding to 28 systems ordered in 2019 for delivery in 2020 and with additional 52 new orders in 2020 it has been a busy year. Last year Feen Marine delivered 68 units and commissioned 49 units with sea trials.
Feen Marine’s reference list of Exhaust Gas Cleaning System consists of 104 units (16 VLCCs, 78 bulk carriers, 1 Chemical tanker, 2 container ships and 7 Container reefers). 16 of these orders were for new buildings in Japan and China, of which 11 have been delivered seven having been fully commissioned.
With regards to Feen Marine’s scrubber retrofit program, 88 systems have been ordered (76 were delivered and the remaining 12 systems are awaiting shipment schedule from owner). Average installation time for retrofitting was around 20 days & the shortest time was around 12 days.
So far 2021 has had a good start, with new building orders for four Japanese bulk carriers in January for scrubbers together with inert gas generators for Chinese yards . Feen believe that with the rising oil price and growing spread between HSFO and LSFO, the requirement for scrubbers is likely to grow again.
Jan Fredrik Gulbrandsen, Feen Marine’s Sales Director said, “Throughout 2020 our Plug and Play system has reduced cost and installation time by over 30%. New machinery that has been installed in our factory has lowered the costs and decreased the production time. We are now completing factory fabrication of our units in 21 days producing 15 scrubbers per month.”
