A new US type-approval has been granted to Alfa Laval for its PureBallast 3.2 variant.

Last month the US Coast Guard amended the type-approval for the 3.0 and 3.1 variants of Alfa Laval’s PureBallast UV treatment system, reflecting a reduced holding time.

The new USCG type-approval covers the version of the system that has also achieved type-approval under the revised IMO G8 process. As with the amendment last month, the minimum hold time for the system has been set at 2.5 hours allowing for it to be used on much shorter voyages than the previous 72-hour minimum hold time.
